Ammann's presence at Bauma 2010 was successful beyond expectations. The many product innovations attracted a great deal of serious interest and an unexpectedly large number of new orders were secured at the Munich trade fair.
The first days of the fair were attended primarily by representatives of the road construction industry in Germany and central Europe. However, once air travel began to return to normal, a growing number of overseas visitors arrived in Munich. Framed by four large-format panorama photos of the Swiss Alps, the red Ammann marquee and the two impressive asphalt mixing plants were the main eye-catching features of the Ammann stand. The three-pillar Ammann principle of "Ecology, Safety, Reduction" was prominently communicated throughout the stand, and three remarkable customer events rounded off the well-executed Bauma campaign mounted by the 141-year-old family-owned company.
The time and effort invested in Bauma 2010 has thus generated very positive results for the Swiss road construction specialist. "We secured a number of contracts from unexpected quarters," remarked a delighted Hans-Friedrich Peters, Executive Vice President Systems. "Moreover, we were the only Bauma exhibitors who presented a continuous mixing plant there." The staff of BA Machines noted a slight drop in the number of customer contacts, presumably a consequence of the air travel restrictions. "But we were able to invest more time in the customers who made it to Munich, and the quality of those contacts was significantly higher," says Christian Stryffeler, Executive Vice President Machines. And: "We recorded an extremely positive response to our continuous asphalt mixing plants and the new rammers, which were displayed for the first time." For Ulrich Meyer, Executive Vice President Basis, the fact that some visitors were astonished to discover just how good Ammann's range of concrete mixing plants is came as a further positive surprise. Marc Martella, Ammann-Yanmar's Sales Networks Manager, also gave the company's Bauma experience a thumbs up: "Many of the major leasing companies indicated that they would be renewing large portions of their compact machine inventories at the beginning of next year."
