Professional vibro-installation of paving stones.
04. May 2009

Vibratory plates are by far the most suitable group of devices when it comes to creating planes and vibro-installing natural stone or interlocking concrete stone pavement. Ammann offers a broad range of petrol and Diesel-powered machines in various weight categories to provide the right vibratory plate for the job.

The weight category for devices with an operating weight ranging between 100 and 280 kg has no less than seven vibratory plates with stepless hydraulic advance and reverse, partially variable working widths, centrifugal forces between 22 and 38 kN and high vibrating frequencies:

  • Machines with a maximum output of up to 30 kN and an operating weight of at least 130 to 160 kg are recommended for paving stones with a thickness of 6 to 8 centimetres.
  • An output of around 30 kN and an operating weight of 180 to 200 kg should be selected for paving stones with a thickness between 8 and 10 centimetres.
  • Paving stones thicker than 10 centimetres (heavy duty paving) require vibratory plates with 30 to 60 kN output in a weight category of up to approximately 600 kg.

Important: High exciter frequency and a wide base plate

Success also depends on two further parameters: high frequencies in the range of 65 to 98 Hertz provide an intensive impact that is nonetheless gentle on paving stones. The working width of the device is also important. The centrifugal force created by the exciter in machines with a working width of 50 to 60 cm is applied to a greater surface area. All Ammann vibratory plates in the model range AVP 2220 to AVP 3520 are suitable for paving work and are compellingly easy to use, extremely agile and offer a range of equipment available either as standard or as optional extras.
