Operator safety is gaining ever greater importance as a decisive factor. Despite high technical safety standards such as shuttering there are still many hazardous areas in compaction work, particularly in excavation and canalisation construction. Ammann has developed a machine that is an ideal problem-solver for these types of site: the remote-controlled vibratory plate AVH 1000 TC. It is powerful and very compact thanks to a high-performance, horizontal Hatz Supra 1 D 90 V diesel engine. The machine achieves excellent compaction results even in deep trenches and virtually impassable areas. The operator controls the machine from a safe location by either infrared or cable remote control.
Infrared remote control units do not require charging: they are equipped with solar cells and are always ready for use. The maximum distance between transmitter and machine is 18 metres. The maximum possible distance between transmitter and machine for remote control by cable is 8 metres. A proximity switch protects the operator: the machine will stop or cannot be started if the distance between operator and machine is less than two metres.
The AVH 1000 TC operates on the proven principle of a fully hydrostatic system: a hydraulic drive system powers the exciter shafts and adjusts the centrifugal weights to guarantee a quick response to operator commands via remote control and a fast interruption of movement in hazardous situations. There are no parts susceptible to wear and tear such as clutches or V-belts.
Safety and easy machine operation are the focus of attention:
- The remote control transmitter is fitted with an emergency stop switch - the engine is started and stopped via remote control, and an engine start in the idle position is possible
- The operator can switch vibration on and off at will
- The direction of movement can be changed quickly as required
- A signal lamp on the machine indicates infrared contact between transmitter and machine to the operator. If the operator turns away from the machine, whether intentionally or not, it will stop automatically.
- Cable remote controls are controlled by the machine's electrical system and are independent from its electronic system (this is important, for instance in bad weather conditions when the remote control unit has to be recharged)
- Electronic engine switch-off in the event of an insufficient oil level, dirty air filter or overheating. The engine will switch off again if restarted under the same condition.
