Precise, cost-effective asphalting is in progress on Germany's Federal Highway B523 near Villingen-Schwenningen thanks to three Ammann tandem rollers: two AV 85-2 ACEs and one AV 95.

The ACE (Ammann Compaction Expert) measurement and control system installed on the two AV 85-2 machines is relatively new to Willy Walter of roadbuilding company Walter Strassenbau KG. But his roller operators' reports on their experiences and the measurements taken are already confirming the system's excellent performance in practice. Compaction values measured during the asphalting process are above the required figure of 97% throughout the area.
