Six Russian towns with six high-performance asphalt mixing plants – and one simultaneous startup. From fabrication to assembly to the spectacular commissioning: the mammoth contract in Tatarstan was a huge challenge for all involved. In the Russian-speaking world the term ”simultaneous” is associated more with chess than with the startup of asphalt mixing plants. Based in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Tatavtodor company has demonstrated that ”simultaneous” is possible also in the construction industry! Six asphalt mixing plants located hundreds of miles apart were brought into service at exactly the same moment, and produced their first loads of asphalt mix precisely on time. This spectacular synchronized startup – unique even in the 140-year history of Ammann – aroused quite some public interest, and the event was duly attended by the republic’s political elite: President Mintimer Schaimijew with his Ministers of Construction and Transport. Ammann CEO Johann Niklaus Schneider-Ammann gave the startup signal and the production of quality asphalt commenced. Accompanied by folklore and dance performances, and a spread of national specialties, this memorable startup event attracted significant media attention.
